The Academic Success Center provides centralized support services to all undergraduate students at UMBC. Through a coordinated approach and an unwavering commitment to student success, the Academic Success Center fosters a welcoming environment and offers free academic support includingAcademic Learning Resources(tutoring, writing support,supplemental instruction and academic success courses),Academic Policy(petition support), andAcademic Advocacy(individual meetings coordinating resources for academic success) for students to achieve their academic goals and claim their future with a UMBC degree.
Academic Advocacy
Academic Advocates provide support to students in resolving academic and institutional challenges that may adversely affect their academic success, persistence and graduation
Academic Skills Meetings
One-to-One meetings to help students with time management, study skills, motivation and finding campus resources.
Appointment Tutoring
Small-group tutoring for all first and second level courses not tutored by other centers
Computing Success Center
Drop-in tutoring for Computer Science and Information Systems courses
Drop-In Tutoring
Drop-in tutoring for Math, Statistics, Science, Economics and Spanish courses
Supplemental Instruction/Peer-Assisted Study Sessions

Tutoring by appointment for help on any written assignment for any class
McNair Scholars Program
Provides experiences to prepare first generation, low-income, and students who are underrepresented in graduate education for obtaining doctoral degrees
