Title of position: Credentialing Specialist
Tell us about your internship, co-op, or research opportunity, including your day-to-day responsibilities:
As a credentialing specialist intern, I focused primarily on ensuring that healthcare professionals achieve all applicable regulations and standards for their employment within the organization. I regularly confirm qualifications including education, experience, certificates, and licenses. To gather or verify information, this calls for careful record-keeping and communication with educational institutions, licensing boards, and certifying authorities. I am in charge of keeping thorough records of all credentials, adding up-to-date information to databases and software programs, and keeping an eye on adherence to organizational and legal requirements.
Describe the process of obtaining your position. When did you hear of the position and submit your application?
My internship as a credentialing specialist was acquired through a unique method that involved a LinkedIn connection and previous work experience. My employer and I first connected on LinkedIn. I got to know her when I worked with her at my previous job. I kept in touch with my employer professionally after we connected on LinkedIn by engaging in part in conversations about healthcare and credentialing. My future employer mentioned the internship possibility for credentialing work within their organization at some time during our professional engagement. I expressed interest in applying for the role as soon as I learned about the internship opportunity. After reviewing my application, my employer scheduled an interview virtually to further assess my qualifications, skills, and fit for the role. I was given an offer for the internship after the interview procedure. I accepted the offer and started getting ready for the internship after going over the agreements and talking about any important specifics.
