Tell us about your internship, co-op, or research opportunity, including your day-to-day responsibilities:
I am responsible for creating both web and print promotional materials for my campus's career center events.
Describe the process of obtaining your position. When did you hear of the position and submit your application?
I went to a UMBC Connects: Employers in Creative Careers event. I had seen an email about employers with internship/job opportunities, so I decided to go. That is where I found out about my internship. After looking into the position, I applied the next day through Handshake.
What resources did you use to find your current experience?
Career Fairs
What have you enjoyed the most about your position and organization?
The flexibility of the work schedule with my classes.
How do you believe you have made an impact through your work?
By making the career opportunities from the career center seen by the students. Making the events look eye catching allows for students to see when events are taking place, and plan to go to them.
What advice would you give to another student who is seeking an internship or similar experience?
Make sure that you make a portfolio with your best works, additionally make sure that you finalize your projects when you have the free time. A polished portfolio can do a lot for an applicant.
