National Interagency Confederation for Biological Research
NICBR Exploring Careers in a Scientific Environment Symposiu
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS OCTOBER 7, 2011
Registration Site: http://web.ncifcrf.gov/events/ECSES/default.asp
The event is sponsored by the National Interagency Confederation for Biological Research (NICBR), a partnership of government agencies with laboratories within the Fort Detrick and NCI-Frederick campuses, including the U.S. Army, National Cancer Institute, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Agriculture, U.S. Navy, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
During the morning, representatives from the various NICBR partner laboratories will introduce the types of potential career paths available at their agencies while describing research programs and opportunities for internships and fellowships. After the morning presentations, participants will have the opportunity to chat with the speakers and obtain additional information during an informal lunch period. Participants will need to purchase their own lunch - a cafe is available on location for your convenience.
After lunch there will be a panel Q&A session where participants will have the opportunity to obtain more information on career development. Some agencies will offer tours at their laboratories (pre-registration for tours is required) in the afternoon.
To ensure a safe environment for all participants, pre-registration is REQUIRED so minimal "background checks" can be completed.
