Straw Bridge Challenge Needs You!
It is Springtime and along with the birds, bees, April showers and May flowers comes the ASME Straw Bridge Challenge. While perhaps not as important to the natural order of the planet, Straw Bridge Challenge is important to the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who put forth the effort to design and build their bridges.
This is where the ASME Baltimore Section needs your help. The section is recruiting volunteers to help with judging, crowd control and just general good PR on Challenge Day, Saturday April 23rd from 9AM to 12:30PM at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. Don't really know anything about bridges? That's OK, neither do the Challengers. All these Challengers need are folks who know basics about engineering, structures, and design. Engineers of all disciplines and levels are welcome.
Want to help but your Saturday is already booked? The Straw Bridge Challenge also needs readers to help evaluate the Challengers written reports. Reports are submitted two weeks before Challenge day (April 8th this year) and need to be evaluated by the 22nd.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact Paul Borthwick at (443) - 745-8089 or paul@bluespecter.com. Please put Strawbridge in the subject line.
