Graduate seminar: Public Health Disasters
Meet an expert in public health preparedness and response!
Wednesday, March 15, 2017 · 3 - 5 PM
EHS is hosting a guest lecturer for this coming week's grad seminar (Wednesday 15 March 3-5pm, Sherman Hall Rm 305). His name is Dr. Albert Romanosky, MD, MPH and he is the Director of the DHMH Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response. He will talk about the development of the public health specialty of emergency preparedness and response from the viewpoint of a state director, integration/coordination with other emergency preparedness and response agencies, and the need for cross-trained public health/emergency management personnel. Please note that Dr. Al has sent several suggested pre-seminar readings (attached), with recognition that you won't be able to read everything, but can get familiarized with how CDC and other agencies are taking on these tasks. By the way, Dr. Al has recently been tasked with helping coordinate the Maryland public health response to the opioid epidemic.
