The University System of Maryland Board of Regents presents the system's highest faculty honors, which recognize outstanding teaching, research, service, and mentoring. Dr. Kars is one of this year's award winners for Excellence in Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activity. The Board notes that she has been recognized by scholars for redefining the study of the North American Pre-Revolutionary Era and Atlantic World History. The decision also involved consideration of Kars' book: "Blood on the River: A Chronicle of Mutiny and Freedom on the Wild Coast" which recently won both the Cundill History Prize and the Yale Frederick Douglass Prize. Congratulations, Dr. Kars!
