An internship in Senator Ben Cardin's office provides an exciting educational and a behind-the-scenes look at the federal legislative process. Interns will provide basic assistance to the staff by sorting office mail, researching and summarizing proposed legislation, attending hearings and briefings, and drafting constituent correspondence.
The selection process is highly competitive. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate-level students. Fall and Spring applicants are required to work at least 16 hours per week. Paid internships are available to applicants that meet the following requirements:
ο must be a United States citizen and a Maryland resident
ο enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
ο must not receive any other compensation for the internship
ο able to meet the minimum work requirements listed below
Summer:40 hours/week for seven weeks, $1,000 stipend
Fall/Spring: 16 - 24 hours/week for three months,$850 stipend
Fall/Spring: 32 - 40 hours/week for three months,$1,250 stipend
