A unique opportunity for students interested in global security, intelligence and international affairs!
What: UMBC is a member of the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), which is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service and U.S. organizations operating abroad. OSAC's focus is to promote cross-sector cooperation on global security, intelligence and international affairs. This year, OSAC will allow a limited number of students to attend the Annual Briefing.
Who: OSAC includes representatives from academia, aviation, cybersecurity, energy, faith-based organizations, government, hospitality/tourism, insurance, international development, law enforcement, media, military, private security contractors, etc. The event will feature Andrea Mitchell, NBC Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent, as well as Oksana Markarova, Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S, as keynote speakers. Other speakers include:

Where: The Annual Briefing will take place at the U.S. Department of State's Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
When:
November 15 - Full day (8:30AM - approximately 5PM) of presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking.
November 16 - Half day (8:30AM - approximately 12:30PM) of presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking
Student Eligibility:
1. Must demonstrate interest in national security, intelligence, international affairs or other related fields;
2. Must be either a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident;
3. Must be enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student; and
4. Must apply by Oct. 14., 2023.
Logistics: Attached is a more detailed formal invitation. Space is limited, so please apply by the Oct. 14 deadline. If your application is approved, you must respond to OSAC to confirm your participation within 48 hours of being notified.
Cost: There is also no registration fee. OSAC will not reimburse travel expenses, but CGE will cover the costs of transportation to attend the event for any students accepted to attend.
