Hip Hop Competition -- The Prize? Meeting Snoop Dogg, son.
Winner gets to meet Snoop Dogg, of course.
Thursday, February 17, 2011 · 8 - 10 PM
We only have time for at most 16 acts. Be there early to assure a position.
FYI: This is not a rap battle - it is a competition that will be decided at the end of the night by a panel of previously appointed judges.
Allowable Acts:
- Acts must be at least partly founded in the Hip Hop genre to be considered for the competition. No country songs.
- Acts may be covers or originals. Originals get bonus points, though.
- Groups may be at max 3 people. Snoop Dogg is a busy man, sorry.
Backing tracks are allowed, please have them on an iPod or similar device.
Judges' decisions are final.
UPDATE 2/16
I've been pretty inundated with emails about rule clarifications, so here that goes.
-Sign ups will take place before the event. I will be there at around 7:15 with a piece of paper.
-Acts do not need to be censored, but a reasonable amount of decency would be appreciated. The f-word is kindof played out anyway, don't you think?
-At least one member of the act must attend UMBC. I don't have a quip for this one.
-crowd appeal is important. WINK WINK BRING YOUR FRIENDS WINK WINK take the hint.
-You can bring in CDs with backing tracks. I emphasize backing because there needs to be at least a performance.
-The limit is 5 minutes. If you can fit 2 songs in there, great. But if you go really over, I'll finally get to use that trap door I had installed last summer.
