Join UMBC at the Baltimore Book Festival on Sunday, September 27, as
we celebrate a great lineup of
UMBC talent and a free reception, all hosted by Ivy Bookshop owner Ed
Berlin (’70, history).
1 to 2 pm - Manil Suri
is a novelist and professor of mathematics at UMBC. His trilogy of
best-selling novels The Death of Vishnu, The Age of Shiva and The City
of Devi examines the present, past and imagined future of India through
the lens of Hindu mythology.
2 to 3 pm -
Karsonya “Kaye” Wise Whitehead (Ph.D., 2009, Language, Literacy and
Culture) reads from Letters to My Black Sons, which traces her and her
husband’s journey as they try to raise happy and healthy black boys in a
post-racial America.
3 to 6 pm - University
Writers Program - The Ivy’s festival program concludes with a slam!
Join us for a writers’ reception at the intermission,
sponsored by UMBC, and show your support for UMBC undergraduate readers
Jacki Airhart and James Gallagher.
