Attention Graduate Students:
The National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health has fellowships and postdoctoral positions!
Representatives want graduate students from UMBC. Your research might be applicable to issues in aging.
· Are you interested in cutting edge biomedical research?
· Do you want to do research at the world’s premier research institution?
·
Do you want to further the
understanding of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, diabetes, cancer,
cardiovascular disorders, obesity and more?
Come to an information session on the research training opportunities at the National Institutes of Health with Arlene Jackson & Jaron Lockett, Ph.D. National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health
LOCATION: Commons 331

1:00 - 2:00 PM General Presentation
2:00 - 3:00 PM Drop-in Session, Meet the representatives
The NIA's research programs include scientific disciplines like biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, behavioral sciences and epidemiology, as well as medical disciplines including neurobiology, endocrinology, cardiology, hematology, oncology, and gerontology. The central focus of our research is understanding the changes associated with healthy aging and to define the criteria for evaluating when a change becomes pathological. Thus, not only are the common age-related diseases under study (e.g., Alzheimer's Disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and cancer), but the determinants of healthy aging are being defined.
