Critical Language Scholarship Program Information Session
Full funding for studying in-demand languages in the summer!
Thursday, October 16, 2014 · 3 - 4 PM
Learning an in-demand foreign language is a great way to separate yourself from the pack as you make your way into the world of work, post-UMBC. One of the best ways to learn such a language is through the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the CLS program offers fully funded summer language institutes for U.S. university students. Successful applicants spend 8-10 weeks overseas during the summer, learning Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, or Urdu.
Visit the CLS program website at: http://www.clscholarship.org/about.
The deadline for Summer 2015 applications is November 12, 2014. Sara Bartfield from the Critical Language Scholarship program will be on campus on Thursday, October 16, from 3:00 to 4:00 in 331 Commons for an information session on the program and the application process. If you are interested in studying a language that the State Department deems "critical," please plan to attend.
