Dear students,
As you know, the United States Department of Education announced recently that there will be a delay in sharing with colleges and universities the Free Application for Federal Student Aid information, more commonly known as the FAFSA.
I know that not having this information can be frustrating. I share your frustrations, and want you to know that my staff and I at UMBC are working as hard as we can to support you in your continuing path at UMBC. Here are a few important things to know going forward:
If you haven’t already submitted your FAFSA application, I encourage you to do so as soon as you can using UMBC’s code 002105. If you need help or have any questions, you can visit our Financial Aid website to find answers to common questions, or to find contact information for your designated financial aid counselor.
The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) has moved its priority deadline to from March 1 to June 1 for all Maryland residents to apply for state grants. I encourage you to learn more about opportunities for state grants here.
As of today, we are expecting financial aid notifications to go out in May. If you have any questions about the process, we are here to talk with you and help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Financial Aid staff.
Sincerely,
Yvette Mozie-Ross ’88
Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Planning
