Intercultural Development Workshop
Diversity Session
This theory-based workshop provides UMBC staff with an opportunity to explore the concept of inclusive excellence within the framework of intercultural development. Each participant will receive free access to the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a statistically reliable and rigorously validated 50-item questionnaire designed to measure intercultural competence at the individual, group and organizational levels.
During the workshop, participants will explore basic and intermediate concepts related to intercultural communication and develop skills designed to improve their interactions across cultural difference. Participants will receive a detailed profile of their IDI results and have an opportunity to discuss these within the context of inclusive excellence at UMBC.
Finally, each participant will receive a personalized intercultural development plan designed to assist them with movement along the intercultural development continuum. Individual results will be kept confidential and participants may elect to schedule a private debriefing to discuss their results with a qualified IDI administrator. Due to the fact that costs associated with this training are being covered for the participants, it is very important that individuals who register fully commit to completing the IDI and attending the workshop.
This workshop is a partnership between Human Resources and International Education Services.
Space is limited and registration is required. Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 2nd!
