Sexual Assault Climate Survey
In compliance with HB 571 (Md. Education Article, Section §11-601), UMBC will be administering a campus Sexual Assault Climate Survey for students (undergraduate and graduate) who are at least 18 years old. The survey will be open for students from February 26 through March 16.
We will be using a survey instrument developed by EAB.
With this in mind, we need your help in supporting student participation with taking the climate survey. The survey will allow students an opportunity to share, anonymously, their experiences and perspectives on diversity, sexual and relationship violence, safety, and inclusion at UMBC. The information we receive from the climate survey will help inform and shape policies, procedures, and practices that promote a safe, healthy, and more welcoming campus.
I am reaching out now, to request your assistance in spreading the word directly to students about taking the climate survey. The more students that take the survey, the better informed our campus will be. Our office will hang some posters and disseminate quarter cards for distribution in high traffic student areas when we get closer to the launch date.
There are also incentives available for students who take the survey. The first 150 students to take the survey will receive $5.00 (flex dollars) and the first 300 students to take the survey will be entered into a drawing to win an Amazon Echo dot ($49.99 value) or PowerBeats Wireless Headphones ($199.99 value).
We welcome your partnership and support to increase student participation. Feel free to share this email with your colleagues who may be able to assist in this effort.
