"Structures of the Bacteriophage T7 DNA Replication Complex Reveal Dynamic Movement of DNA Polymerases on a Helicase Ring"
Research in my lab is focused on understanding the molecular details of DNA replication. We are using the model DNA replication system from bacteriophage T7 to understand how DNA polymerase and helicase communicate during different stages of the replication cycle. Additionally, my lab has interests in understanding how mitochondrial DNA is both copied and repaired by the enzyme DNA polymerase gamma. We are currently investigating the importance of DNA polymerase gamma for maintaining the mitochondrial genome in pathogenic strains of yeast.
