Here are the candidates for the coming year's officer positions! Voting is now open until May 2nd. The ballot is a google form accessed at the bottom of this post. Here are the candidates campaign speeches:
- Gabriella Lehman running for President:
My name is Gabriella Lehman and I'm running for President of the Ancient Studies Council. I will be a senior next academic year, double majoring in Ancient Studies and Anthropology. I feel that I would be a qualified candidate for this position because of my leadership skills. Growing up I was encouraged and accepted leadership roles in the United States Pony Club where I helped guide junior members and supported them while achieving their goals. In addition, in my places of employment I mentored, trained, and presented to new staff and potential employees. Ancient Studies is something I'm very passionate about and would consider it a privilege and highlight of my academic career to be president of the Ancient Studies Council.
- Mary Nolan running for Vice President and Secretary:
Hi everyone! My name is Mary Nolan, I'm a junior chemical engineering major with a minor in Ancient Studies. Learning about the ancient world has been my passion since I was a kid, and I have loved getting to incorporate my passion into my studies in school. Even more that that, I have loved getting to help plan events to help harbor this passion for the whole club as the 2021-2022 club vice president. I would love to get to lead again this upcoming semester and create even more fun events as we go into another school year!
- Julia Labuda running for Secretary:
I'm Julia Labuda, this is my third year at UMBC, and I'm an Ancient Studies major as well as a Bio major. I chose to be secretary because helping answer questions people have, further explaining certain events, or just writing posts is fun! I love to interact with people and keep things organized. I am qualified for this role due to the experience and skills that I have. I have been secretary to the ANCS club for 2 years and have made sure our members are informed of the latest events. As the secretary I am here to communicate with and help our members, and it is always a pleasant experience!
- Danielle Larios running for Treasurer:
Hi, my name is Danielle Larios and I am currently a freshman Chemical Engineering major and Ancient Studies minor applying for the position of treasurer! I believe that I am suited for the role of treasurer not only because I enjoy working with math and statistics to organize information, but also because I would love the opportunity to assist the club in planning events, especially after years of little to no in person interactions. Thank you for your consideration and I hope you have a good rest of your day!
Thank you to all that applied to this year's election! If you have any questions regarding voting or about the election in general, please contact our secretary at jlabuda1@umbc.edu
